Beautiful Outdoor Fall Wedding

When L contacted us about doing her wedding she already had a good start on what she wanted.  She had her venue, a beautiful estate with pristine manicured gardens and fabulous outdoor spaces. She knew she wanted a November wedding with traditional fall colors and flowers.  And she had her dress! O the beautiful dress and lets not forget about the shoes! To die for! This is where our inspiration began…..

As we started working with L & S it became very clear just how much our happy couple’s family and friends meant to them.  They wanted this to not only be a celebration of their marriage but also a celebration of their family and friend’s love and support. L kept saying “I want it personal and kid friendly!”  Lucky for her we know a little something about personalization and we definitely know kids!  (The youngest member of our staff is 17 months old) :)     To entertain all of the kiddos we made goody bags filled with coloring books and colors along with bubbles, balls, Slinky’s and other kid approved items.  They were so excited to each have their own bag of goodies and little bag of chocolate kisses!

As we began coming up with ways to make their wedding as personal as could be we kept going back the their invitations.

L absolutely loved her invitations that we did and especially her new monogram. We drew form that and incorporated it in so many beautiful and subtle ways. We made custom chair sashes, pillows for the lounge area, venue flags, favor tags and water bottle labels. We also created a custom monogrammed wrap for the unity candle along with a jeweled cake topper. All of these things helped create that very personal feel that they wanted.

After many months of planning, creating and monogramming THE BIG DAY finally arrived! Guest were greeted with beautiful gas lanterns as they made their way to the outdoor ceremony and reception. Our bride wanted  something different for a sign in book so we came up with the idea of having guest use an engraving pen and sign a pewter tray on their arrival. The tray is now displayed in their home and used on Holidays and special occasions.

The linens and flowers that we used all incorporated the outdoor venue and beautiful fall colors. Rich brown, orange and green satin table cloths and chair covers created a beautiful blanket for all of the fall flowers. The vivid purple, oranges and greens  in mercury glass containers all added wonderful pops of color.

The flowers were one of L’s favorite parts of her wedding.  She loves fall so we really wanted her to get that true fall feeling all the way down here in Southeast Texas. That along with the fire in the outdoor fireplace, twinkling candles and the twilight service really created a magical moment.  We also drew inspiration from these colors and a shawl that the bride had and came up with one of the most unique and stunning cakes that we have ever seen. Dena with Dena’s Sweetly Unique Cakes took our design and truly created a masterpiece.

At the reception the guest were treated to not only a scrumptious buffet of some of the Bride and Groom’s favorite foods but also a dessert bar of specialty treats that we created. We had a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, pretzels and cookies for dipping, along with rum balls (the groom’s favorite) peanut butter balls (the bride’s favorite), mini pecan pies and fruit pies. This was to help lend to the kid friendliness of the event but I think the adults enjoyed it more than the kids did!

And as the Bride and Groom danced their first dance as husband and wife their guest toasted to them with chocolate rimmed champagne glasses filled with their choice of bubbly or sparkling cider.

This was one of the most fun and personal weddings that we have ever done. Our Bride and Groom were truly amazing to work with and they were completely willing to go out on a limb to create that personal wedding they always dreamed of. Thank you L & S for letting us share in your special day and trusting us with everything from your invitations, monogramming and linens to the flowers and food. Best wishes as you embark on you new life together.

A special thanks to Terry Haley with Memories in Light Photography for these wonderful images.

“Southern Charm”… a styled photo shoot!

Who wants a “Whimiscal” post?! Below is a “Southern Charm” photo shoot that I styled and was photographed by the amazing Sarah E. Evans Photography! Enjoy!

Sarah E. Evans has become a great friend the past six months or so to me! She actually likes my incessant talking and idea throwing once I get a spark of something to create. I usually get an idea in my head and then 2 hours later I am STILL sending her more ideas, the best way I can because I usually cant type fast enough due to the fact I want to scream or cry because I get so excited!! yes, Im a design nerd! My husband as learned to grasp it (which he usually still has to calm me down, I talk REALLY loud when Im excited!), but its another thing when you meet someone just as creative and “outside the box” as you are to share ideas with!!

One of the first times Sarah and I met, we somehow starting talking about the magazine, Southern Weddings, and how we both LOVE it, and so badly wanted to do set-ups like they have in the magazine!

Several months later, we both nailed down a time to make our ideas come to life! From this first shoot, we have now planned two more which are “southern” inspired as well, but will include much more styling, “bride and groom” models, and some fun items from other vendors as well!

This first shoot includes some things that are very precious to me; silver, china, and crystal from my great great (prob a few more greats) grandparents from Puerto Rico, they are all dated in the late 1800′s…For some reason this is beyond cool to me! I also used brass candlesticks that my grandmother gave to me, they fit perfectly in to complete my look, the ladderback chairs were also given to me by my mom’s friend!…

Hope you enjoy our work!

How fun is that candlestick! I made the runner with green burlap, coffee stained some lace and gathered it to add to the runner, and painted a monogram on it! The arrangements, I wanted to be very organic and asymmetrical, all kinds of fresh flowers were used to complete the look!

I bought a vintage hanger from an antique store to hang MY wedding dress on! Its been stuffed in a bag for almost 4 years!

The fabric was my inspiration! As soon as I saw it sitting on the big fabric bolt it was screamin my name! I covered the chairs I bought from and antique store, and paired the green burlap with it, from there I ordered specific fresh floral to compliment the colors in that one piece of fabric!

Thank you so much Sarah for all your hard work, and being so cool! I think our first shoot was a major success! Next up “Simply Southern” comin hot in March!

Trash the Dress | Sarah e. Evans Photography

Yes, I know what you are thinking… “is that paint on her wedding dress? That is crazy!” LOL And yes it is a wedding dress and why it might be a bit crazy to some, Heather and Mike had so much fun during their TTD session! While I realize that completely destroying your wedding gown might not be for everyone it is for some! Heather actually purchased this dress just for this concept, and decided to keep her real wedding gown that her grandmother made out of harms way. We used paint balls, paint ball guns, and tons of paint in buckets to achieve our “look”! ; ) While some might look at you like your a little crazy for wanting to “trash” your wedding gown it certainly is a trend and can be done in many forms. It is a great chance to get back in your wedding gown and have fun and NOT worry about getting dirty before your BIG day! After all what is a better way to celebrate an anniversary then by sliding back into your gown and setting up a fun session with your groom?

If you are interested in setting up a Trash The Dress session just contact us, we would love to discuss all the options for your shoot!

Much Love and Stay Fabulous!

Formal black and white table with a pop of red, Photography by Bellafotografica!

I love love love fabric, any kind…I could literally live a fabric store! I also love damask print fabric… I have several different styles and colors used thorughout my house! When I saw this black and White damask linen  at Occasions in Nederland, I knew I had to use to a table setting! I made the candle holder with a whole bunch of red roses, and wired in some crystals, for a little bling action!  I had also found the glass balls a while back and could not wait for the perfect setting to use them! I hung them with fishing line and everyone who has seen these pictures says they look like bubbles! I love how Allen captured these photos! Enjoy!

Tropical Wedding Reception

When Lindsey and Chad contacted us about doing their entire wedding reception we were so excited! They already had their destination wedding to the Mayan Riviera in the works so our job was to create a fabulous reception for them when they returned.  Boy did we have our work cut out for us. We were honored to be asked to do the entire reception from invitations, favors and event planning to monogramming, linens, floral arrangements and catering!

She knew she wanted orange and pink as her main color scheme to bring the fell of her wedding in Mexico back to Southeast Texas. So we started with her invitations. They were our starting point for all of our inspiration.

From there we worked on the linen selections and floral arrangements. We used white as the base and built from there with orange and pink sheer runners to make a striking star fish affect.  We used a lot of tropical flowers, fresh fruit (a beautiful way to make stunning florals on a budget)  and beautiful white shells to tie it all together.

We really strive to make all of our events very personal. One of favorite ways to make your event unique is with custom monogrammed items to match your invitations. Venue flags are a great way to achieve this. You can place them outside of your reception, bachelorette party or shower! We can take your lettering from your invitations and convert it to stitching and make it all yours!  We can also make custom monogrammed chairs sashes, ring bearer pillows, flower girl cones,  favor boxes and treats.

We had such a great time working with Lindsey and Chad. Not only are they a stunning couple but they both have great taste and were willing to be adventurous. And let me tell you, they know how to party!

Thanks Lindsey and Chad for letting us be a party of this very special time in your lives. Best wishes for your future together!

And a very special thanks to Lacey Carpenter Photography for providing us with these beautiful images.

Lemon Fresh Real Wedding ~ Jennifer + Brian

Jennifer and Brian were married at Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas, in a beautiful late spring ceremony.  The sanctuary was packed with nearly 400 friends and family members.

The outer doors of the sanctuary were adorned with fresh magnolia arches and large organza bows.  The extensive aisle was draped with pew markers of ivory tulle, organza bows, and crystal strands.  The chancel rail was decorated with fluted tulip votives and fresh sprigs of magnolia and cedar.

Large columns topped with ferns and dressed in an ivory drape set the backdrop for their vows.  During the ceremony, Jennifer and Brian stepped to the Unity Candles which set atop a lovely custom embroidered Unity Banner featuring their monogram and wedding date.  The unity candle had been decorated with tiny pearl heads by the bride’s mother.

The bride wore a lovely white gown, and the bridesmaids wore short apple green dresses.  Bridal flowers featured yellow and white daisies.

Reception tables featured soft yellow satin scarves, votive candles and a variety of silk arrangements, posies, and candelabras.  Jennifer and Brian’s table featured a large crystal vase filled with fresh cut lemons and a large arrangement of yellow roses, daisies and calla lilies.  Other tables featured tall footed vases with fresh cut limes.  Many of the tables were centered with fragrant lemon scented pillar candles. The 5-layer wedding cake adorned with ribbon and fresh daisies was tall and impressive.

Guests were entertained with a custom Video Keepsake DVD by B & B Solutions that included video of Brian’s engagement surprise, childhood pictures of the bride and groom, and pictures of the couple’s many outdoor adventures.

Perfectly Purple Real Wedding ~ Brandy + C.J.

Brandy and C.J. were married at First Christian Church in Port Arthur, Texas. Centered below the beautiful stained glass window was a large crystal vase filled with ivory hydrangeas, white gardenias and shades of purple wisteria, a perfect backdrop for this lovely wedding and a complement to the bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids’ ivory nosegays. The aisle was lined with ivory organza bows and tulle markers draped with curly ribbon and pearl garland.  The chancel was draped with ivory tulle. Each of the six sections was centered with a single ivory hydrangea. Stems were wrapped and accented with curls of ivory ribbon and a strand of crystals. Each of the six sections was topped with greenery and an arch of candles.

Brandy and C.J. stepped to the Unity Candles during the ceremony. The crystal centerpieces that held the candles sat atop a lovely custom Unity Banner of ivory satin featuring their custom monogram and wedding date. Their unity candle was wrapped with a touch of organza ribbon and adorned with a vintage gold and pearl cross that the couple selected themselves.

The reception was held at The Neches Room on historic Crockett Street in Beaumont, Texas. Brandy knew what she wanted for her reception, vintage elegance! Throughout the reception, crystal centerpieces were adorned with silk arrangements and posies of ivory and green callas, ivory gardenias, ivory roses, purple ranunculus, purple anemones, ivory daisies, purple wisteria, green roses, and green tulips. The Bride’s and Groom’s table featured a tall footed vase filled and draped with crystals. The couple’s chairs were adorned with posies of ivory roses and hydrangeas and crystal strands.

Brandy and C.J.’s table was flanked by two large 5-light silver candelabras with tulip votives, crystal bobeches, crystal prisms, and draped with crystal strands. And to top it all off, the Wedding Cake was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen!
