I am probably the latest bloomer in the blogging world, but I thought the best way to start would be to blog my own wonderful wedding experience!!
I am so excited to share too. First of all I have to gush at how my husband proposed. I collect turtles, yes turtles and I have collected them since I was given a stuffed turtle when I was about 6 or so. BUT, anyway so I was having a terrible day and my on our way to dinner, before we left our house he pulled me into the den where I had an entire china cabinet full of turtles and pictures of my family. He told me he bought me something and asked me to look in the cabinet. Well, I of course found the new addition in the cabinet. It was sitting in front of my mothers picture. I picked up and just loved it! It was beautiful! Before I put it back, he told me to open it. Well, of course I opened it and stared at the engraving on the inside for what felt like forever, and when I looked up, Jason was down on one knee holding a ring. I didn’t even answer him I just grabbed the ring and kissed him. It wasn’t until when we were driving to dinner that I just kind of yelled yessss! He said what?? Haha I forgot to answer you!
Then I asked him why he proposed in the den, and he said because I wanted your mom to see it.
After A LOT of thought about planning our wedding, Jason and I decided we just wanted to have an intimate ceremony somewhere far away!! So we decided on the Bahamas! My colors were simple, white and yellow! I loved it! All I wanted was for my immediate family there and my father to walk me down the aisle! I couldn’t have asked for anything more! The plane ride there was the first plane ride I had ever been on! It was an incredible journey!!! And just FYI, be sure you wear some Soon-to-be or newlywed shirts on the plane! Free champagne or alcohol may be offered!!
We decided to get married on a pier overlooking the beautiful Caribbean waters!! It was so windy that it completely dried my eyes out when they were trying to cry during the ceremony! And I loved every minute of it! We said our “I Do’s” and I felt an overwhelming emotion of calmness. I knew right then and there that the man I just said “I Do” to was my best friend, my protector, my dream come true! This day is a day I want to live again and again because it was by far the most incredible day of my life!
We got married at Sandals Royal Bahamian on February 4th, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.! Sandals Resort was an amazing resort and I recommend it to anyone thinking of a destination wedding. The coordinators on-site were friendly, informational, and calming. Our resort photographer captured some amazing memories for us. We stayed 11 days at the resort. Arrived on the 1st (super bowl Sunday), married on the 4th, and honeymooned until the 11th! We got to experience so much and spend the beginning of our life as a married couple right where we said “I Do”. Which we went and visited before we left and made a promise that we would one day stand in that exact same spot again! I can’t wait!
